What Are Good Alternatives to an Old Toshiba PBX Phone System?

I'm looking to upgrade from a really outdated Toshiba PBX/hybrid phone system — it's a mix of IP and non-IP phones from the CTX series, and honestly, it's ancient! I took over this setup and realize it's not reliable at all, especially with the local phone provider causing issues. I'm considering moving to VOIP, but I'm not sure if that's the best option given our needs. We have 8 phone numbers spread across 3 call centers that use an auto attendant, a 1-800 number, and roughly 30 extensions, plus some overhead paging and bells for when the front desk isn't there. Faxing isn't crucial for us, but if there's a workaround, that's great. My main concern is reliability since even with two backup internet connections, our internet can be unpredictable. Cloud-based options would be nice for those who work from home, but it's not a must. What would you recommend for a more reliable phone system? Feel free to ask me any questions for clarity!

If you're worried about faxing post-upgrade, WestFax offers a cloud solution that’s HIPAA-compliant and works separately from your phone system. You can still use your existing fax numbers and access it through email or web, which might solve those headache issues!

I had a Toshiba CTX system too, and when it was time to upgrade, we went with Allworx, recommended by the same company that serviced our Toshiba. It’s not the most popular brand, but it’s been great for six years! It handles all the features you need, and we saved tons switching from traditional phone lines. Plus, you can set up e-fax without it being a hassle. Definitely consider it!

I’m currently with Vonage and absolutely love it. It’s super reliable and easy to manage—definitely worth looking into if you want something straightforward!

I just made the switch from a Panasonic PBX to a 3CX VoIP system. You can choose between on-premise or cloud solutions. Just know that with a cloud setup, no internet means no phone calls at all, while on-premise will keep internal calls working. We’ve found it to be much easier to manage than the old system, plus call quality and features are much better. We had a partner help with setup, and it was a breeze!

I've set up similar systems in the past. A lot of people have mixed feelings about it, but I've found RingCentral to be a solid choice. It's user-friendly and it may be worth considering if you're looking for something reliable!
