Hey everyone! I'm in the process of interviewing for a remote Product Support Engineer position at a global SaaS/infrastructure company. They've asked me for my expected gross salary in USD, and I'm trying to nail down a figure that reflects my experience without scaring them off. Here's a bit about me: I'm based in Costa Rica, have over 12 years of experience in IT, and I'm currently the Head of IT at a healthcare organization. My skills include networking, troubleshooting, and infrastructure support, and I'm comfortable working with APIs and customer tech issues. I'm currently earning around $3,200 a month (which is about $38k a year). The job appears to involve troubleshooting technical issues, debugging API integrations, and assisting customers, among other duties. I've seen that similar roles in the US range from $70k to $100k, but I know salaries tend to be adjusted for LATAM hires. Given my experience and location, would a salary range of $55k to $65k USD be appropriate? I'd love to hear from anyone working in tech support or SaaS in LATAM about their experiences with compensation. Thanks!

I used to work as a support engineer for an IaaS/SaaS consultancy based in the Netherlands, and I made about 1.9 million per month. While that's a good number, it really depends on the company's valuation of your location and expertise. Your expected range seems fair, but always negotiate if you feel underpriced.
As a former product/middleware support engineer, I can share that in my medium cost-of-living city, my salary was between $92k and $98k. So it's definitely good to see where salaries can land, but remember those numbers are for the US market. For LATAM, I'd say your range of $55k to $65k sounds reasonable, especially considering your background and skills.
