What are some free front-end design tools that are easy to use?

I'm looking for free front-end design software that allows for basic manipulation similar to MS Paint. I want to create elements like cubes, add bevels, transparency, and gradients as a foundation for later coding in HTML and CSS. I'm not interested in using GIMP or anything too complex—just something straightforward.

If you're looking for web-based options, definitely check out Figma, but also consider Penpot and the soon-to-launch Paper design tool. For 3D designs, Spline is pretty cool. And for creating wireframes, Excalidraw and Tldraw are great alternatives!

Figma is a solid choice! It’s popular among professional designers and has a free plan that lets you do quite a bit. Lots of free UI kits are also available to help you get started quickly.

I’d love to hear more about your concerns with Figma! What’s making you fall out of love with it?

I totally forgot about Figma! It's a bit stiff for my taste, but it seems like the best option for what I need. I'm used to designing on the fly, but I want to up my game and explore my creativity.
