What are some good AM5 motherboard options?

I'm considering buying an AM5 motherboard and have heard mixed reviews about the x870E chipset, which might have some issues. Currently, I'm using a 9800x3D and an RX 9070 XT, along with DDR5 2x16 Corsair Vengeance RAM. I'm looking for recommendations on a quality motherboard that won't break the bank—my budget is around 4500kr (approximately $470). Any tips?

The x870E is just a chipset, and the right motherboard really depends on your specific needs. Generally, any AM5 motherboard in the $200-250 range should work well for you. You mentioned you're inclined toward the MSI MAG x870E, which is a solid choice, but just keep in mind that some people feel it could become outdated quicker than others.

Ultimately, you can't go wrong with a good value option as long as it meets your requirements.

Thanks for the input! I'm focusing on AM5 for sure.

I had an AM4 before, but I'm all in on AM5 now. The MSI MAG sounds great for what you're looking for!

For most setups, the B550, B650E, or even B850 motherboards will do just fine. Just be aware you may need a BIOS update to get some of the newer CPUs working. It's a common process and helps ensure everything runs smoothly.

The higher-end X870 or X870E boards offer USB 4 and PCIe 5.0, but if you only plan on having one GPU and one or two M.2 SSDs, you're not gaining much. Stick to what meets your needs and budget. I usually pay attention to the I/O setup, networking, and cooling support when choosing.

Most people don’t actually need the X870E for a gaming setup.

Thanks! Should I consider an ROG Strix for better cooling, or do you have other recommendations? Your breakdown helped me a lot!
