I'm looking to give my PC a solid upgrade, starting with a new CPU. My budget is around $100-$200, and I want to know what options are available that won't break the bank. Here are some details about my system:
- Operating System: Windows 11 Home (64-bit)
- Motherboard: MS-7D18 (B560M PRO-VDH WIFI)
- Processor: Intel Core i5-10400F @ 2.90GHz
- RAM: 32 GB DDR4
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060
- PSU: Gamdias Helios 600w 80 Plus Gold Power Supply P1-600G
Any suggestions would be appreciated!

If you’re considering a CPU upgrade, remember that it typically means getting a new motherboard, DDR5 RAM, and possibly a cooler. It really comes down to whether you need this upgrade for productivity, single-player games, or multiplayer—weigh your options accordingly.
Honestly, upgrading the CPU might not be worth it. On your current platform, any performance gains would be minor since the socket is pretty much outdated now.
Before you decide on a CPU upgrade, think about what you're using the PC for. If gaming is your main goal, it might be a better idea to upgrade your GPU instead, maybe looking at options like the 9060 XT 16GB, which could fit your budget and deliver better performance. However, if you really want to stick with a CPU upgrade, you could move from the i5-10400F to the i7-10700K, but just make sure that would actually benefit your gaming or other usage in a noticeable way. Another option could be the i5-14400F with a new budget motherboard, although you'll need DDR5 RAM, which might blow the budget.
LGA 1700 supports DDR4 as well, so you could find a cheap motherboard and reuse your RAM, which might help keep you within budget.

I'm focusing mainly on gaming, especially for VR. I'm hoping to find something that helps with that.
