I'm not really in a rush to upgrade my CPU, but since I recently got a new GPU, I'm curious about what improvements I could still make to my setup. Currently, I'm using an i5-12400 along with an RTX 5060ti with 16GB of RAM, and I game on a 1440p monitor. I know LGA1700 is outdated, but I'm aware there are better CPUs available. My concern is that my motherboard, the ASRock B660m Pro RS, isn't the highest quality, so I'm not sure how it would handle more powerful processors. An obvious choice seems to be upgrading to an i5-14400, but I don't think it offers much of a boost for graphics-heavy games and is just a slight improvement in more CPU-demanding tasks. Are there any CPUs that would provide a significant upgrade and would be compatible with my motherboard?

If you're gaming at 1440p with your current setup, upgrading the CPU might not yield significant benefits. Sure, you could consider faster options like the 14th gen i5 or even an i7, but the performance gains might be marginal, especially since you're running DDR4 RAM. Honestly, your GPU is doing most of the heavy lifting at that resolution, so I wouldn’t stress too much about it.
