What are the best budget CPU and GPU combos for under $450 CAD?

I'm currently using a gaming laptop, specifically the 2020/2021 Acer Nitro 5 AN-515-55, which features an RTX 3050 and an Intel Core i5-10300H CPU. While it's okay for some games, I struggle with FPS in Geometry Dash when OBS is open, averaging around 90-150 FPS (though it feels like only 70-80). I can get about 300 FPS in Geometry Dash when OBS isn't running, and for Minecraft, I'm averaging around 100 FPS, which feels smoother. I'm trying to figure out what CPU and GPU combo I can get for a new desktop build under about $450 CAD combined. Also, I'm looking for recommendations for a good budget 144Hz monitor in the range of $250-400 CAD. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

To get the most out of your budget, consider going for a used AM4 5600x for around $100 USD and pair it with a used RTX 4060 for about $250. This combo should handle Geometry Dash and Minecraft quite well!

You can't upgrade the GPU in a laptop since it's soldered to the motherboard. If you want better performance, you’ll need to sell your laptop and go for a desktop build instead.

I think there was a misunderstanding. I'm looking for a new PC build, not upgrades for my laptop. I know that's not possible.

It’s crucial to set a total budget for your build since you can't just buy a CPU and GPU and expect them to work without the other parts. Think about the whole setup; it’ll save you hassle in the long run!

For the GPU, look into the RX 6000 or 7000 series; they should provide solid performance for your budget! Just keep in mind to budget for the entire system instead of just components.
