I've been enjoying Fedora for a while now, but I'm interested in exploring what Debian-based distributions have to offer, especially since I appreciate the support for .deb packages. GNOME is my preferred desktop environment, and it's non-negotiable for me. I'm looking for recommendations. Please no Ubuntu, as I'm not a fan of their direction, which feels too much like Windows for my taste.

Have you considered straight-up Debian? It can give you the pure Debian experience while supporting all the .deb packages you want. It typically offers GNOME as an option during installation, contrary to some beliefs that it’s mainly KDE.
I wouldn't necessarily switch just for the .deb packages. Both Debian and PikaOS have good support, but you should consider whether the switch is worth the effort for your workflow.
You might want to check out PikaOS. It’s pretty user-friendly and has a nice GNOME interface. If you're looking for something different, VanillaOS could be a good choice as it's immutable and offers a solid GNOME experience.
