Hey everyone! I'm new to Linux and I'm looking for recommendations on must-have applications to kick off my gaming experience. I primarily play games, dabble in AI projects, and I'm thinking about getting into video editing soon. Any tips on essential tools would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

For gaming, you’ll definitely want to install launchers for your games. Steam has a native Linux version, but for others, Heroic and Lutris are great alternatives. Kdenlive is good for video editing too, so give it a shot! As for AI tools, Docker works on Linux without issue.

Steam is pretty much your best bet for gaming on Linux. It manages everything from game compatibility to controller support. Don't forget to check out ProtonUp-Qt, which makes it super easy to play Windows games by installing the necessary tools. For video editing, Kdenlive is a solid choice—just keep it simple and focus on these essentials!

You'll want to get Steam for sure, and definitely give Lutris and Heroic Game Launcher a try as they help with other libraries like Epic and GOG. Also, if you're planning to do some editing, Kdenlive is great for that. Just remember to regularly check what games work with Proton on the ProtonDB website!

Along with Steam, installing ProtonUp-Qt can really streamline your gaming experience. Make sure to check the compatibility settings for each game to get the best performance. If you're into video editing, Kdenlive is user-friendly, especially for Linux newcomers!
