I'm seeking advice on what parts I should consider upgrading in my new PC build. Currently, my setup includes an i5-11400F processor, a Gigabyte B560 DS3H motherboard, 64GB of G.Skill Ripjaws RAM running at 3600MHz, a 1TB M.2 SSD, a Zotac GTX 1080, and a 650W power supply. As I'm new to PC building, I understand it's essential to focus on upgrading the GPU and CPU. I'm specifically looking for compatible parts that will work with my motherboard, and I want to ensure I have adequate power supply to support any upgrades. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

When it comes to GPUs, your budget, case size, and the PSU capacity will define your options. You've got a great 11th gen CPU with an LGA 1200 motherboard, allowing you to upgrade to a better 11th gen CPU without replacing the motherboard. However, focusing on the GPU upgrade first is generally worth it; it will improve your gaming performance significantly without needing an immediate CPU upgrade.
So upgrading the GPU will still give me a good performance boost then?
I'd recommend holding off on upgrading the CPU unless you find an i7-11700 or i9-11900 at a really low price, and even then, it might not be worth it compared to what you already have. However, upgrading the GTX 1080 is a solid choice! Your current CPU can handle a 5060 Ti or 7700 XT well. For the highest potential, you might push it to a 4070 or 7800 XT but keep in mind the GPU’s limits at 1080p.
Thanks for the insight! I was hoping for this kind of direction.
Exactly what I needed to know. Appreciate the input!
Exactly! Just make sure your PSU can handle it.
