I recently switched from Windows 11 to a Linux distribution called CachyOS with Hyprland, and after some tinkering, I'm mostly set up. However, I'm on the lookout for recommended wireless controllers that work well with Linux. I'm currently using an Xbox wireless controller with a dongle, but it's starting to fall apart. One annoying issue I face is having to manually reinstall the xone driver from GitHub after every kernel update. I'm hoping to find some good alternatives that are easy to purchase in the EU. Any suggestions?

Using a PS5 controller over Bluetooth is a smart choice; it doesn't require any extra drivers, so it's hassle-free!
Both Xbox and PlayStation controllers function perfectly via Bluetooth for me without any hassle. I've tested them on both my laptop and desktop setups.
Personally, I’ve always preferred PlayStation controllers over Xbox ones. They’ve been a solid choice for me on Linux. I've even got Joy-Cons somewhat working on my Steam Deck, but haven't tested them on my desktop yet.
I've had great success with the 8bitdo Wireless 2 2.4G controller on Kubuntu. It connects smoothly and performs well!
If you're looking for another option, the DualSense controller from PS5 works really well on Linux too!

Does it work out of the box, or do I need to download drivers from somewhere?
