Hey everyone! I'm curious to gather your opinions on using Nakivo Backup & Replication, specifically for a few functions: VMware replication, backing up VMware and Proxmox to Wasabi with immutability enabled, and backups using SMB. Can we focus on backup with immutability compared to Wasabi with the Windows agent? For now, let's put aside RTO and RPO discussions. I appreciate any insights from those who have experience with it. Thanks!

I've heard that Nakivo has some serious security vulnerabilities, which isn't great considering it's been viewed as a risk by some in the industry. Just throwing that out there for those considering it.
They mention that all identified vulnerabilities have been fixed in their latest releases, so it's worth checking their release notes for updates.
I actually use Nakivo with Hyper-V for backups and replication, and it has been pretty reliable. I did face some issues in the past, but their support team handled it well. Just a tip: I wouldn't recommend using SMB as a repository; it’s better to directly map your storage to the Nakivo proxy for better immutability. I haven't tested it with Proxmox yet since I'm waiting for version 9 support.
I've primarily used Nakivo with VMware, and it’s been quite efficient. For VMware replication, it’s straightforward and reliable for on-prem disaster recovery. We also back up to Wasabi with immutability enabled, and that setup has worked fine. The agent-based backups are pretty dependable too. Overall, it's a user-friendly solution that does what it needs to without too much hassle.
I think it's a solid choice, especially considering its pricing. Just make sure you're keeping it patched because there have been some major issues before, but they’ve been resolved in subsequent updates.

Can you share any specific references about those security issues?
