I'm putting together my new PC soon and realized I've accidentally bought the NZXT Kraken Elite 2023 cooler instead of the updated 2024 model. Should I stick with the 2023 version, upgrade to the 2024, or maybe just go with a Noctua fan that's cheaper? I'm pretty new to this whole thing, so any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

NZXT AIOs aren't great for the price, and the older versions especially have issues. I would recommend considering a Thermalright AIO or even their air coolers for similar performance at a lower price. Return if you can!
I have the Kraken and honestly regret it. I wish I had gone for air cooling instead of a water cooler. It's just not what I expected!
Honestly, you might want to skip both the Kraken coolers and get a Peerless Assassin instead. It's a solid choice, and you could save some cash for other upgrades! Check it out here: pcpartpicker.com/product/hYxRsY/thermalright-peerless-assassin-120-se-6617-cfm-cpu-cooler-pa120-se-d3.
The cooler you're looking at is really overkill for the 9800X3D. That CPU doesn't need much to keep it cool, so consider something simpler.
If you can return the Kraken and don’t mind waiting, I’d suggest getting the 2024 version. It's definitely better, but if you want to save some bucks, good Noctua fans could do the trick without missing out too much.
