I'm building a PC with a Ryzen 9800X3D and a 5070 Ti and I'm curious about their temperature ranges. How hot do these components typically run? Is it possible to achieve good temperatures without using an AIO (all-in-one cooler)? Also, does the case I use have a significant impact on cooling performance?

Absolutely, the AMD chips can keep cool without an AIO. I recommend looking at air coolers like the Peerless Assassin or Phantom Spirit if they're available. They're great for maintaining lower temps at a budget-friendly price!
The Ryzen 9800X3D can aim for temperatures up to 95C, which AMD considers normal. However, if you prefer to keep your CPU cooler, you can tweak settings in the BIOS, like adjusting the curve optimizer, although not all CPUs handle big adjustments well. As for your case choice, it can play a huge role in cooling; a cramped old case like the NZXT H510 can get toasty, while a well-ventilated case like the O11 Dynamic will help keep things cooler. Just remember that results can vary based on fan setups and room temperature too.
You can definitely get solid cooling with air options like a mid-tier Thermalright cooler instead of going straight for an AIO. With my 9900X3D, I see about 76C max, but a friend using a 240mm AIO reports temps around 50-60C during the latest WoW raids. Since the 9800X3D runs a bit cooler, you should have no problem hitting good temps with either a decent budget air cooler or an AIO.
I think there’s a bit of overhype around AIOs. They're effective, sure, but many air coolers perform just as well without the risk of leaks. A good air cooler might actually serve you just as well!
While most 9800X3Ds should handle a -25 curve optimizer setting, not every chip will perform well under it. The actual benefits can be minimal since the 9800X3D already runs cooler, and sometimes it might even run hotter with some adjustments. It's key to test for stability when you play around with these settings.
