What CPU and GPU combo should I choose for development?

I'm looking for advice on a good CPU and GPU combination for my development needs. I was thinking about going with a Ryzen 9 9950X3D paired with an RTX 5070 Ti. My budget is around $3,000 to $3,500 USD. However, I've heard reports of issues with AM5 motherboards damaging CPUs, which makes me hesitant. I plan to use programs like Unreal Engine and Touch Designer, but I also want to make sure I'm not wasting too much power. Any suggestions?

I recommend steering clear of entry-level motherboards if you're using a high-end CPU. It's worth it to invest in something robust. For the GPU, a 5080 or 5090 would complement the 9950X3D nicely, but if you're on a budget, the 5070 Ti is still a decent choice. Just make sure to get a solid motherboard that can handle everything!

I was thinking of getting the 5080, but with tariffs, the prices have skyrocketed. So I might just stick with the 5070 Ti for now. Any motherboard recommendations? I’m not worried about the I/O; it’s more of a hybrid workspace for me. I’ve heard the MSI X870E is good, but I’m confused about sizes.

I've heard concerns about AM5 motherboards too, but honestly, there haven't been major issues in a while. If you're into development, the 9950X3D is fantastic as long as you're not just dabbling with it. It’s a solid choice for demanding tasks like Unreal Engine! Just avoid Asrock boards if you can, they have a reputation for frying CPUs, especially older models. Stick with reliable brands.

Yeah, I was aiming for a development build as well, really excited about it!
