Hey everyone! I just picked up a 5070 Ti to upgrade my setup that currently runs a Ryzen 5 5600X and a 3060. When I tried to install the new GPU with the provided adapter, it showed a red light, indicating a power delivery issue. It looks like I'll need a new PSU since my current one, an RM750x with old connectors, might not be cutting it. Since I'm swapping the PSU, I'm thinking about building a new PC entirely and giving my current one to my brother, whose setup is really outdated.
I'm now searching for a good CPU to pair with the 5070 Ti. I considered getting a Ryzen 7 9800X3D and an X870 motherboard, but a guy at Canada Computers suggested that for gaming, that might be overkill. He mentioned I could spend less and only see about a 10% dip in performance. Also, I'm planning to eventually upgrade to a 1440p OLED monitor when I save up enough money. What CPU and motherboard would you recommend? And would a 6000MHz RAM kit suffice, or should I spring for an 8000MHz kit?

Check out some guides for picking the right CPU/GPU combos and motherboards online; they're super helpful! Balancing your components will make a huge difference in performance. Good luck with your build!
For your new setup, consider going with a 7600X3D or 7800X3D bundle which you can find at Canada Computers for a reasonable price. And yes, getting a new PSU is key—aim for something like an 850W model if you can. As for RAM, a 6000MHz kit is ideal for AM5 Ryzen CPUs, especially if you can go for CL30. CL36 is okay for X3D CPUs if you're on a budget.
750W is usually plenty for a Ryzen 5 5600X and a 5070 Ti, but if your PSU doesn't have the right connectors, that could be the problem. Just because your GPU doesn’t draw much power while idle, doesn’t mean it won't run into issues under load. If you're using an adapter, that could also be a factor in why it's not working correctly. You might want to look for a PSU that has the proper connectors for your new card.
