Hey everyone! I'm new to all this, so I appreciate your patience with me. I primarily play Guild Wars 2, which can be pretty demanding on the CPU. Right now, I have an MSI B550 AM4 motherboard with a Ryzen 5 3600 processor, a 3070 GPU, and 32GB of RAM. I'm not looking to switch to AM5 just yet. I've been checking out CPUs that would enhance my gaming experience, especially for those moments when the game's population spikes. Most recommendations point to the discontinued Ryzen 7 5700X or 5800X3D. However, I'm hoping to avoid spending a fortune on a used 5700X3D. Can anyone suggest a decent upgrade option that won't break the bank? Thanks in advance!

I just picked up a 5800XT since I'm skipping AM5 for now, and it’s now at a price close to MSRP. Benchmarks show it’s a notable upgrade from the 3600.
It's important to know your budget, man. I just upgraded to a used 5700X3D since I needed better performance for flight sims, but honestly, they can be pricey. A 5800XT goes for around $185 and could be the best option for under $300. But I'd stick around for more perspectives on that.
Your Ryzen 3600 is still a solid choice, but if you decide to upgrade, the Ryzen 5 5600X, 5700X (make sure to avoid the non-X), or 5800X(T) are good options that will give you a boost.
If you're looking to upgrade, I'd say a Ryzen 7 5800XT is a solid choice. It’ll offer a significant boost in both multithreading and single-threaded performance over your 3600, and it should last you a while until you’re ready for AM5 or something else.
Honestly, your setup should handle GW2 just fine. Unless you're in a super crowded area, your FPS shouldn’t drop significantly during normal gameplay. Have you thought about holding off on the upgrade for now? The prices for PC components are pretty high, and it might be better to see if they come down later.

Oops! I should have mentioned, I’m looking at under $300 for my upgrade.
