I've been putting off upgrading my PC for a while, but it's time to finally make the leap so I can enjoy the games I really want to play. Right now, I have an i7-8700 and a GTX-1070, which feels like overkill for my current setup. I want to fully utilize my 3440x1440p monitor while keeping my budget under $1500. Is this feasible?

Honestly, it might be best to wait until Borderlands 4 is officially out so we can get a clearer idea of how it performs. Then you can choose your hardware based on actual benchmarks.
You'll likely need a decent mid-range graphics card, and maybe consider upscaling and frame generation. Once the game is out, we can better determine its hardware demands.
Check out this build I found for under $1500: it features a 9700X and a 9070XT, which is pretty close to 5070 Ti performance, plus 32GB of RAM. Just keep in mind you might need to use frame generation for smoother gameplay. Here's the link: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/rBDn4p
You could also just look up Borderlands 4 benchmarks once they're available. They should give you a better idea of what hardware you'll need!
For 1440p gaming, I’d recommend looking at a 5070 Ti along with a 7800X3D if you can swing it. However, if you're aiming to stay below $1500, you could find a used 4070 Ti setup that fits your budget.
You're essentially upgrading your entire rig! Hitting that 1440p and aiming for 80-90fps might be possible under $1500, but it might be a stretch to reach 144Hz that way.
True, but the game isn’t out yet, so we might have to wait a bit for those!
