I'm building my first PC and I came across a note that says, "A USB 3.2 Gen 1 to USB 2.0 header adapter is required." I'm not entirely sure what this means and if anyone has tips on what I need to buy to sort this out. I shared a link to my build in the comments if that helps!

A quick solution is to check if the fans you're using are USB 2.0 and upgrade to more modern fans if they're not. That might alleviate the need for the adapter altogether!

Thanks! I'll look into getting new fans.

It’s just a small adapter that allows a USB 3.1 plug to connect to a USB 2.0 port on either your motherboard or case. Just make sure you know which direction you need the connection to go!

If you use that adapter, it will limit the ports to USB 2.0 speeds. It seems a bit of a bummer, but at least you'll still have USB connectivity if that's all you have available!

Totally get that! It can be tricky to keep up with all the tech changes.

Looks like you might need that adapter because your fans use USB 2.0 headers. You actually only need one controller for your AIO cooler and one for the fans, so maybe consider a USB 2.0 splitter if you find yourself short.
