I'm looking to build a PC and I really have no clue about what I need for LAN connectivity. I'm mainly going to be playing AAA games, so I'd love some guidance on whether I should go for 2.5, 5, or even 10 GbE. What do you think?

You actually don't need super fast internet for gaming. A connection speed of 100 Mbps is sufficient as long as your ping is low. So, whether you pick 2.5, 5, or 10 GbE, you'll be fine for gaming!

Honestly, any of those speeds will work just fine for gaming. Multiplayer games usually don't use up too much data, typically in the kbps range, so even 2.5 GbE would be more than sufficient for smooth gameplay.

The first thing to consider is the speed you're getting from your Internet Service Provider (ISP). That's the key factor. Are you using Ethernet or just WiFi? If you're thinking about going wired, a 10GbE will definitely be great if your router supports it, especially with a Cat6 cable, but make sure your internet speed can utilize that.

I thought the GbE options would cover the connection type, lol. I guess I'm still learning! Still, I’ll be good with 10GbE for future-proofing, right?
