Hey everyone! I hope you're all well. I'm excited to share that I'm getting a Lenovo Legion 5 this year since my current laptop is really struggling. With my plans to make the switch from Windows to Linux, I want to pick a gaming-friendly OS since my new laptop will support Nvidia drivers. I'm currently considering Nobara, Pop!_OS, or Bazzite. I'd really appreciate your honest opinions on the stability of each option and whether they come out of the box ready to go. I have some experience with the terminal, but I'm taking my time to ease into the Linux world. Thanks, and have a great day!

If you're a beginner, I'd recommend going with Linux Mint or Kubuntu. They tend to be more user-friendly out of the box.
I'm using Nobara, and I really like it! They have an active Discord community, plus a guided app for installing the essentials. It simplifies things a lot compared to plain Fedora. Just be aware that using Linux takes a bit of time and learning. Nobara is less focused on tinkering, which is nice. If you're looking for a great gaming experience, I'd also recommend trying Fedora KDE first to get used to Linux basics, then switch to something tailored for gaming like Bazzite or Nobara later on.
Great suggestion! I think I'll give Fedora KDE a try first. I’m also eyeing this nice pastel theme for Nobara—once I get my laptop, I’ll definitely do a trial run with a flash drive before settling on an OS.
I went with Bazzite on my Ryzen 9 laptop with a 4080 GPU, and it's been smooth sailing! No stuttering issues, which were common on Windows 11. I haven’t even booted back into my Windows partition for months. I used to have these annoying 'Event 42' errors on Windows, but since moving to Linux, those issues have disappeared—no more random restarts! So, I’d say Bazzite is great for gaming!

I've been considering that, but I'm curious about their support for Nvidia drivers without needing a ton of extra installations.
