What GPU Should I Choose for a PCIe 2.0 Slot?

I'm looking for advice on which GPU to buy for a motherboard with a PCIe 2.0 x16 slot. I have a Gigabyte B450M DS3H motherboard, and unfortunately, my brother damaged the PCIe 3.0 slot while testing a friend's faulty GPU. For now, I'm using a GeForce RTX 3060 12GB in a 4-lane PCIe 2.0 slot, and while it's performing okay, I want to create a budget build with the old motherboard. Also, which CPU would pair well without causing bottlenecks?

I agree! If you're on a tight budget, look for something like a GTX 1660. Just be cautious about the RX 580 market; a lot of those cards have been mined or repaired, which could lead to issues down the line.

Given the limitations of your board, I'd say consider a low-tier GPU. An RX 580 8GB or a GTX 1060 6GB could be solid choices. If you're feeling adventurous, a GTX 1080 might still work, but keep your budget in check! No need to over-invest in that setup, especially if you're just reusing the old parts.
