What GPU Should I Upgrade to for VR Gaming?

I'm diving into VR gaming and looking for some advice on upgrading my GPU. I'm planning to use a Big Screen Beyond 2 headset that has a resolution of 2560x2560 per eye. Currently, I have an RX 6600 graphics card paired with a Ryzen 5 7600 processor on an ASRock A620M Pro RS motherboard, along with 32GB of DDR5 RAM and a 2TB SSD. My power supply is a 750W unit. Given the specs, I'm concerned that the RX 6600, with its 8GB of VRAM, might not be enough for a smooth experience with the BSB2. I'm considering upgrading to either a 6800XT, a 6800 (both with 16GB of VRAM), or the 7700XT. I'm also thinking about liquid cooling as I'm planning on a small form factor case. Is this a decent choice for VR gaming, or should I aim for newer models like the 9000 series or other 7000 series cards? I'm hoping for something reasonable priced since I don't want to overspend. I prefer sticking to Radeon GPUs and would appreciate any suggestions or insights!

For VR, you want the best GPU you can afford, especially since you're dealing with high resolutions and refresh rates. I'd recommend aiming for the 7900 XT if your budget allows it, as it offers great performance. However, keep in mind that NVIDIA is generally recognized to perform better with VR, thanks to features like DLSS and broader codec support for wireless setups. Your current 750W power supply should be fine if it’s a good quality unit, so focus on getting a solid GPU!

I believe my PSU is an 80+ Gold rated Gigabyte UD750GM; I had to replace it after a surge, but it should be good!

It really depends on the games you'll be playing. Some VR titles aren't super demanding, and your RX 6600 might still hold up for those. However, if you're into more intensive games, even the 7700XT might struggle. But your Ryzen 5 7600 should handle most VR games well. Make sure to check the specific requirements for the games you plan to play.

I'm mainly into simulation games like IL-2 Sturmovik and DCS. They can be graphically intense, right?

Definitely! Those games can push your system, especially with VR. An upgrade would be wise if you're looking for a smooth experience.
