Hey everyone! I just got an Acer GX-781 from a family member, but it doesn't have a hard drive in it. I'm looking to find out what kind of hard drive I should be using for it. I'm pretty clueless about this stuff—can I use any hard drive as long as it meets certain specs, or do I need something specific? I know this PC is a bit older, so I don't expect it to run newer heavy games, like Genshin Impact, but I'd love to at least play something like The Sims. Any advice would be really appreciated! By the way, I'm not a native English speaker, so sorry in advance if I mix up some terms!

I'd recommend getting an SSD instead of a regular hard drive. Most PCs from the last couple of decades should support 2.5" SATA SSDs. Just double-check the specs for your machine to see if it can handle M.2 NVMe SSDs, as that's the newer standard.
Thanks for the tips! I found a Kingston NV3 PCIe 4.0 NVMe 1 TB M.2 SSD. Do you think that one would fit? It looks similar to the old one.
You should be fine with any SATA drive! A 2.5" SATA SSD would work perfectly, and those are still available to buy. They might be a bit rarer than hard drives, but they’re totally compatible with older PCs like yours.
Actually, that won't work; you need a SATA M.2 SSD. They look the same but have different interfaces. A 2.5" SSD would also do the trick! Check out this link for compatible options: [Link].
