I'm building my first gaming and application design rig and currently have a 5070 GPU. I'm looking for a solid CPU and motherboard combination, ideally spending around $400 total, but I can stretch my budget if necessary. Also, I'd like a white motherboard to match my planned all-white build. I'm planning to use DDR5 with 32GB of RAM.

Since you've got a good budget, I'd suggest looking at Intel. An i7-14700 would give you solid performance for both gaming and productivity thanks to its 8 performance cores and 12 efficiency cores. Just ensure you update the BIOS microcode for stability, especially to address the overvolting issue. For the motherboard, consider the Z690 or Z790, depending on whether you want DDR4 or DDR5 RAM. I've had great experiences with the ASRock Z690 Extreme — just watch out for specific chip issues on certain models!

Thanks for the tips! Just to clarify, is the overvolting issue a common thing to consider with Intel setups?

Check out this combo: an AMD Ryzen 7 7700X with the MSI PRO B650-S motherboard. You can get them for about $418 combined, which is just slightly over your budget. This setup is great for gaming and everything else you might throw at it. Plus, AMD's performance is really competitive right now. Don't forget to look at your cooler options as well!

If you're aiming for maximum value, consider the Ryzen 5 9600X paired with any B650 board. It’s a fantastic platform that won't break the bank. Do you need a cooler too? If so, what's your budget because AIOs can get pretty expensive!

I'm leaning towards AIO coolers, but I find the ones with customizable screens to be way overpriced! Any budget-friendly AIO suggestions?
