What is the best Linux distribution for dual-booting on a school laptop?

I'm looking to switch from Windows to Linux on my Lenovo Yoga laptop, which I'll be using primarily for school and some programming. I've tinkered with VMs a bit, but I'm still pretty new to Linux. Are there specific distros that work well with Office 365 and Microsoft Teams? I'm wondering which would be the most user-friendly for a beginner like me, considering I want a dual-boot setup. Any recommendations?

A good option is to use a tiny USB stick for your Linux setup. This way, you can install distros like Manjaro, Pop! OS, or Zorin on it without altering your laptop's internal storage. Just change the boot order in BIOS to prioritize USB drives. Plus, if you need Microsoft Office, consider using tools like OnlyOffice or LibreOffice as alternatives; they'll work fine for most school tasks.

Make sure you’re clear on whether this laptop is owned by your school. If it's yours, then you're good to go with Linux! If it’s school property, I'd suggest sticking to a LiveUSB version of Linux so you don't mess with the internal setup too much. It’ll allow you to boot Linux from the USB and keep your Windows install safe.
