What Linux Distro Should I Choose for Music Production and Gaming?

I'm planning to buy a laptop next year and finally making the switch from Windows to Linux. I've mainly used Windows 10 and 7, and while I can troubleshoot a bit, I'm still learning. I'm hoping to find a Linux distribution that suits my need for music production and video editing software, like FL Studio and Audacity, but I also want to be able to play games on Steam without issues. I'm willing to explore and learn to use the command line, so I'm open to suggestions, especially for a distro that balances usability and performance. Any recommendations?

You might also want to try default Ubuntu. Itโs easy to test, and if you run into any issues, thereโs plenty of support available. Just dive in and dive deep!

Mint is a solid choice! Most folks I know swear by it for beginners. It has a familiar interface and should help you transition smoothly from Windows.

When you're picking your laptop, Lenovo Thinkpads often get great reviews for Linux compatibility! You should aim for something with decent specs, like an RTX 3080. For distros, you could also check out MX Linux or Debian, besides Mint.

If you're looking for something user-friendly, I'd really recommend starting with Linux Mint. Itโs known for being stable and easy to use, especially for newcomers. Iโve had great experiences with it on my gaming PC, and if you like Ubuntu-based systems, you might enjoy Pop!_OS too. They are both fantastic for handling software like music production and video editing.

Iโve always found Mint to be pretty reliable. KDE might take some getting used to, but you can customize it however you want. Plus, it tends to work well right out of the box.
