I've recently started exploring Linux and began with Ubuntu. While I've been using it daily, I realize I need a distribution that encourages me to learn the basics of Linux better. I'm considering dual booting with Windows on my fairly new laptop, so something lightweight like Puppy Linux isn't necessary. What would be a good next step for me?

Honestly, if Ubuntu works for you, I'm not sure why you're looking for another. Most distros have similar foundations; it's about personal preference. Just experiment with different flavors and find what you like!
