I recently received an AMD Radeon RX 9070 graphics card (with 16GB of memory) and I'm looking to build a new PC around it. My main focus will be gaming, but I typically play less graphics-intensive titles. The most demanding game I have is No Man's Sky, and I'd like to run it on higher graphics settings. I also play strategy games like the Civilization series and Paradox titles like Europa Universalis and Stellaris, which can slow down significantly in late game due to population and ship calculations. My current PC is about 10 years old with an i7 processor running at 3.6 GHz, and I'm currently using an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050ti (4GB) along with 16GB of RAM. I have a budget of $1,000 for the new build, not including the graphics card. Any suggestions?

For Stellaris and similar games, the X3D is definitely a strong choice. If you’d rather keep your RAM, you can look into an AM4 motherboard and a 5700X3D, which would likely come in under budget.
If you live near a Microcenter, consider checking out their AM5 bundle deals. You could get a decent CPU like the 9800X or similar. Since you already have the graphics card, a $1,000 budget will stretch quite far. Going for used RAM could save you some cash too! Overall, I'd recommend completely retiring your old Intel build for a fresh start.
That’s definitely the plan! It's time for my old system to retire. Plus, I'm indeed near a Microcenter, so that's a plus!

If you're considering the RAM, just keep in mind your PC's age. There’s a good chance you might be using DDR3. OP, what is your current CPU model?
