What screw size do I need for my new monitor’s VESA mount?

Hey everyone! I just got a GIGABYTE M27QA monitor to replace my old VESA-mounted Asus monitor. I tried to install the new one on the same mount but realized that the screws I have are too short. The screw holes on the GIGABYTE monitor seem more recessed than the ones on my Asus. When I don't have the mounting plate on, the screws fit fine, but with the plate, they won't catch the threads. So, I'm looking for advice on how to get longer screws. Is there a standard screw size for VESA mounts? How can I determine the correct length of screws for my new monitor?

You can also try using a longer screw temporarily to see if it fits (just hand-tighten it). If you have something like a needle or paperclip, you can stick it into the hole to check the depth and measure it. That way, you’ll know exactly what size to buy that's equal to or slightly shorter than that measurement.

That's a clever idea! I'll definitely try that. Thanks!

There isn't really a standard screw length for VESA mounts. I'd suggest taking one of your old screws to a hardware store and looking for screws that are longer—maybe account for the thickness of the mounting plate, and then add a little extra just in case. Most likely, you'll need either M6 or M8 screws, but the lengths can vary. Aim for at least 1/2 inch or about 1.5 cm longer than what you had before.
