As a new IT person, I've been tasked by my boss to set up our company on Azure. Currently, we don't have any existing IT infrastructure aside from 20 desktops that have internet access. I've got access to my new Azure account, but I'm not sure where to begin. Should I focus on security first, set up a domain controller and start adding users, or is there another priority I need to consider?

Honestly, it might be a good idea to bring in a consultant to help you navigate this process. They can provide you with the expert guidance you might need as you're getting started.
The first step should be to set up Entra ID so that users can start logging in with organizational accounts. After that, focus on deploying apps and consider setting up Azure Files or SharePoint based on what your company needs.
I'm curious why you're moving to Azure with just 20 desktops. Without a larger infrastructure, it seems like you might just be throwing money away unless there's a clear benefit you're looking for.
Check out the Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF). It’s specifically tailored for situations like yours and provides step-by-step guidance on what to prioritize when adopting Azure. You can find more details on the Microsoft website!
Totally agree! Once Entra ID is sorted, deploying apps will be essential. Just remember, setting up a domain controller in a greenfield scenario is probably not the best way forward.
