I recently purchased an HP Omen 45L equipped with a 4090 GPU and a 14900K CPU, but I've been facing significant problems with it. I'm beginning to suspect moderate CPU degradation, which seems common with the 13th and 14th gen processors. For example, I've been getting consistent 50 fps while playing Rust. I'm thinking about replacing the motherboard and switching to a 9950X3D CPU, but I have some questions. Firstly, are there any specific components I need to change due to compatibility issues, or do most parts generally work well together? I heard I might need an AMD bracket for my AIO cooler. Secondly, regarding my SSDs, how do they transition during this upgrade? Should I back up my files, or can I just move the SSDs over and keep everything intact? I rely on this computer for work, so having those extra cores is important for me. Any advice or tips would be appreciated!

If you're getting the X3D, avoid using X3D Boost mode, as it has caused issues for many users. When it comes to your SSD, it might just plug in without a hitch, but there's a chance you might have to transfer your files over if it doesn’t boot up properly.
It's always a good idea to back up your files, just in case. Your other SSDs should plug right in with no issues. I recommend doing a fresh install of Windows, though it's not absolutely necessary.
That's reassuring! I have some new Corsair DDR5 RAM, which I hope will be compatible.
