I took my laptop to a local repair shop back in December to fix some issues with the hinges on the lid and bezel. After a two-week wait, when I picked it up, it wouldn't turn on anymore. The repair guy mentioned it was likely a problem with the power switch, and he promised to find a replacement part since it happened while they had it. Fast forward six months, and all I've gotten is the same line about still searching for the part. I'm feeling really frustrated because I've paid $100 upfront, been without my laptop for half a year, and can't even take it home since it won't power on. I'm wondering what my options are since I feel like I've been getting the runaround. Shouldn't they be responsible for this?

Honestly, I'd tell them to just buy you a new laptop that has similar or better specs and transfer your drives over. Six months is definitely pushing it, and you might want to consider small claims court if they keep dragging their feet. They need to take responsibility for the mess they caused!
Six months is way too long for a simple repair! I mean, you only took it in for some hinge issues. Did your laptop work before you brought it in?
Yes, it was fully functional except for the lid problem. They even admitted something went wrong during the repair!
