Hey everyone, I'm having a problem with my USB stick. Whenever I plug it into any machine, I get a message saying there's a problem with the unit and it prompts me to examine and repair it. I've tried that multiple times, but it just takes forever and hasn't worked. Last night, I transferred some files to the USB and ended up with a weird paste of letters and numbers that looks like temporary files. I'm wondering if this could be a virus, a physical issue with the stick, or something else entirely. Any advice?

It might be bit-rot you're dealing with. If you have any important files on it, try to copy them off as soon as possible, then it’s best to just throw the drive away. It’s likely to fail completely soon.
Your drive is probably failing. Avoid storing any critical data on it unless you have backups. It's a good idea to replace the drive to prevent losing important files.
It sounds like your USB is the issue here. You can get new USB flash drives for pretty cheap these days with much more storage. I suggest trying a new USB drive and I bet your problem gets sorted out.
