What should I do after accidentally installing a Trojan on my PC?

I accidentally installed a Trojan on my Windows 11 PC by using a Minecraft resource pack. I discovered it the next morning and immediately used Windows Defender to remove it. To be safe, I also ran full scans with Malwarebytes and Bitdefender, both of which reported that my PC was clean. However, I found a suspicious file in my CurseForge directory with 'trojan' in its name, which I deleted with Bitdefender. I've also received notifications from Bitdefender indicating it blocked a suspicious website, and I'm wondering if that means there's still malware trying to access my system. Should I take further steps to ensure my PC is clean, or would a factory reset be necessary?

Reinstalling Windows through a USB stick isn't too expensive since you usually don't need to repurchase Windows if it's already activated. Just make sure you back up your data first. Also, change your passwords and enable two-factor authentication to enhance your security. A factory reset might not always be effective after an infection, so take precautions.

Since both Bitdefender and Malwarebytes cleared your scans, the Trojan might be neutralized. Just to be 100% sure, you should run a full scan with **Windows Defender Offline**. It runs before Windows fully loads, making it better at catching hidden threats. Afterward, check **Task Scheduler** and **Startup Apps** for anything out of the ordinary. If you're still concerned or notice weird behavior, consider doing a factory reset for peace of mind.

Be careful with BIOS or disk setup changes because they can lead to data loss. It’s always a smart move to check your data backups before making any significant changes to your PC. Run those tests before you go deep diving into your system!
