I accidentally spilled soda on my laptop's keyboard while gaming. The bottle tipped over, and I quickly shut down the laptop, unplugged it, and flipped it upside down. After that, I ran it downstairs and spent about 20 minutes cleaning it. Right now, it's closed, upside down, and I put paper towels in between to soak up any leftover soda. I'm worried about whether I should open it up and clean the internals, as I've read mixed advice about that. The spill was only on the keyboard, away from any internal openings, so I'm hoping it didn't get inside. Should I take extra steps, like checking it out professionally, or is it okay to leave it as is?

Honestly, it's a good idea to open it up a bit. Use some isopropyl alcohol and cotton swabs to carefully clean any residue inside, then let it dry for at least 12 hours. It seems like you've been cautious, but the seals can sometimes mislead you. Better safe than sorry, right?
I'll try to open it up to the best of my ability, then. Thanks!
