What Should I Do With My Old PC Parts?

I recently upgraded my PC to a new case with a new PSU, but I have an old mini ATX motherboard with a Ryzen 5 1600 just sitting around. The old case is in terrible condition, so selling it as a bundle isn't an option. I don't have spare components like a GPU, RAM, or NVMe either. Given that the Ryzen 5 1600 seems outdated, is there any use for it or these parts? What do you guys suggest?

You could also build a NAS or use it for a home lab project. Run VMs on Proxmox, set up your own DNS server, or even use it for routing protocols and a seed box!

Start your home lab journey! My old gaming rig hosts a bunch of docker containers and services I use every day. It really comes in handy!

You could grab some used parts to build a functioning system. It’d be fun to tinker with Linux or even set up a NAS for storing files.

Think about turning those parts into a NAS or a Direct-Attached Storage (DAS) device. It’s a great way to repurpose old components!

I know what a NAS is, but what’s a DAS?

Consider donating the old parts to friends who could use them. Giving them a second life can be rewarding!
