What should I focus on next in my web development journey?

I'm looking to enhance my back-end web development skills and eventually create a standout project. Right now, I'm comfortable with building web apps using Flask, setting up simple databases with SQLite, and handling the front-end with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Bootstrap. My dilemma is whether I should dive deeper into front-end technology by learning React or expand my database knowledge with SQL and a more robust system like PostgreSQL or MySQL. Ultimately, I'm trying to figure out if I should prioritize front-end skills or focus more on database management since I aim to become a back-end developer soon.

If you aren’t already using Git, start now! Create a solid README for your project and push it to GitHub. Include instructions on how to run your API with a Dockerfile, document your API with Swagger, and consider using roles for user authentication. It might help to swap SQLite for PostgreSQL and integrate an ORM like SQLAlchemy to streamline your SQL handling. Also, think about writing a blog post about your learning process and sharing your journey; it can help you gain insights and feedback from others.

I get the confusion! You mentioned wanting to enhance your back-end skills but also considered front-end knowledge. It really comes down to your career goals—do you want to be full stack, back-end only, or front-end?

What job are you aiming for? That could guide your learning path. If you're gunning for a software engineering internship, working on a web app could definitely strengthen your application.

Yeah, I'm really hoping a solid web app will make my resume stand out more!
