What Should I Know Before Upgrading My GPU?

I recently ordered an RTX 5060 Ti to replace my outdated 2060, but my computer is about 5 years old and I haven't upgraded any parts myself before. Is replacing the GPU as easy as just unplugging the old one and plugging in the new one? Are there any important steps I should take or issues I need to consider before making this switch?

Honestly, don’t stress too much about DDU. Just plug in the new GPU and it should work without any issues. Everything will likely run smoothly!

Definitely make sure your power supply unit (PSU) has the necessary connectors for the new graphics card. It’s an important step that a lot of people forget! As for the install, simply replacing the card without any fuss is usually all you need.

You'll want to check if you have the right power connector for the 5060 Ti, which is typically a 12v-2x6 cable. If it doesn't fit, you can use the adapter that comes with the card. Other than that, the swap should be straightforward: just remove the old card, pop in the new one, and you should be good to go! If you run into any issues, reinstalling the drivers is pretty simple too.

Before you install, I recommend uninstalling the old GPU drivers using a tool like DDU for a clean start with the RTX 5060 Ti. Also, double-check that your CPU isn't bottlenecking the new GPU. It’s also good to know what operating system you're using; upgrading is usually easy on Windows, but can be a bit tricky on Linux depending on your distro.
