I'm getting ready to send my motherboard to ASUS for diagnostics and repairs, but I totally forgot to ask the tech support what I need to include in the package. I assume I should remove all attached parts, but what about the CPU? Should I take that out too, or do they have ways to troubleshoot without it?

You should only send the motherboard itself. Anything attached will not be sent back to you, so make sure you remove everything before you ship it.
It's really best to take everything out! Definitely remove the CPU, RAM, and SSD. Also, if you have the CPU cover that came with it, use that to protect the socket—I can't stress enough how important that is. The socket can be pretty sensitive!
Yeah, I agree with Carl on all points! Just make sure to pack it well with bubble wrap. I would definitely worry about the socket being exposed. Better to be safe!
