What Should I Upgrade First on My PC for Gaming?

Hey everyone! I need some help figuring out what to upgrade on my PC. Here's what I'm working with right now:

- Motherboard: Gigabyte A520M S2H Bios F15
- RAM: 16GB
- Video Card: Radeon RX 6600 8GB
- Processor: Ryzen 5 5500 with the stock cooler
- SSD: Samsung 980 Pro 500GB
- Power Supply: XPG Pylon 650W

I'm aiming to keep this rig running smoothly for a few more years, especially able to play games like Witcher 4. Any suggestions on what I should upgrade first and which components would be good to buy without breaking the bank? Thanks a lot!

It really depends on your gaming resolution. If you play at 1440p, consider upgrading your graphics card to something like the RX 9060 XT 16GB. But if you’re playing at 1080p, upgrading your CPU to a Ryzen 5600 or 5700 would be a better bet. Higher resolutions shift the load to the GPU, so that’s crucial! Honestly, the Ryzen 5500 isn't the best performer since it’s more of a budget option. If you can, try to get it up to at least a Ryzen 5600 or 5700X for a solid boost in gaming performance.

I typically game at 1080p too. My goal isn't to max out graphics, just to ensure I can run upcoming titles on medium settings. I was eyeing the Ryzen 5700X3D — would I need a different power supply or cooler if I upgraded to that or the other Ryzen options?

Good point about the L3 cache difference with the 5500! That does make a performance difference, huh?
