What to Do After Installing a Fake App from WhatsApp?

I accidentally installed a suspicious app that a scammer sent me through WhatsApp while pretending to help with an electricity bill name change. After realizing it might be a scam, I deleted the app and ended the call, but I'm worried about any potential consequences. How much trouble am I in? Should I change passwords for all my banking apps and other accounts like Gmail and Yahoo?

There might be some issues with how the app was downloaded, especially since it shouldn't have been able to bypass Play Protect. Just be cautious because apps from unknown sources can lead to trouble. Make sure your device's security settings are on point.

Yeah! They sent me an APK file, and I didn't think it through before installing it.

Sounds like your phone might be older, and the settings could have allowed this without you realizing.

You should definitely factory reset your phone to eliminate any potential threats. After that, change the passwords for all your accounts accessed from that phone. It's also a good idea to enable two-factor authentication where possible to add an extra layer of security.
