I'm having trouble with Excel trying to contact officesetup.getmicrosoftkey.com for activation, but I can't reach that site. DNS works for every other site I've tried. Does anyone know what the issue could be? Thanks for your help!

There's a chance that the activation server is down temporarily or that the URL you’re trying to reach is obsolete. For newer versions of Office, the activation links are usually ols.officeapps.live.com and activation.sls.microsoft.com.
It's tough, but we might have to let go of the older software soon. The vendor for the CRM I use also wants Excel 2016. But man, it's been around for a decade now—it's time for an upgrade, right? Plus, support for Office 2016 and 2019 is ending soon, which means security updates will stop too. This could leave you vulnerable.
It sounds like your version of Microsoft Office is pretty outdated—like 2010, 2013, or 2016? That activation URL might not even be maintained anymore. You might want to check out the Microsoft Activation Scripts on GitHub; they could help you out with this issue.
