What to Expect with the Retirement of Standard VPN Gateway and Automatic Migration

Hey everyone! I'm curious about the upcoming retirement of the standard SKU VPN Gateway that's happening at the end of September. Right now, I have a standard virtual network gateway and a basic public IP linked to it. I'm wondering if the migration to a new gateway will happen automatically or if I should take the initiative to do it myself. Is there any downside to waiting for it to migrate automatically, especially since my server is off at night? Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated!

If you upgrade before the retirement, there won’t be a price difference. But if you get automatically upgraded, expect a price increase. Just something to keep in mind!

Got it! I'll need to weigh my options then.

You can migrate to the Standard IP, and they are rolling out migration functionality for regions right now. Just check out the Microsoft docs for guidance, it's in preview but it's coming together!

I set a reminder today since Microsoft said they would update their documentation on the Basic SKU gateways by the end of yesterday. Of course, nothing's been posted yet! So frustrating! Check out their official docs for the latest.

Yeah, it's a waiting game now. Hopefully, they'll come through with the updates soon!
