Hey everyone! I need some help figuring out what kind of hard drive I should get for an Acer GX-781 that was given to me. It didn't come with a hard drive at all, so I'm completely lost. Is there a specific type of hard drive I should look for, or can I choose from different options as long as they have the right specs? The PC is a bit older, so I don't expect it to run the latest heavy games like Genshin Impact, but I'd love to be able to play something fun like The Sims. Thanks a lot for your help! Also, sorry if my English isn't perfect; it's not my first language!

You might want to consider getting an SSD instead of a traditional hard drive. Any PC from the last two decades should be compatible with 2.5" SATA SSDs, but definitely check the specs to see if it can handle M.2 NVMe SSDs, which are more popular nowadays.

Thanks for the input! Do you think the Kingston NV3 PCIe 4.0 NVMe 1TB M.2 SSD would work? It looks pretty similar to what was in there before.

Nah, that's not going to work. You need a SATA M.2 SSD instead. While it looks the same, the interface is different. A 2.5" SATA SSD will work as well, so it's just a shape thing. You can check out this list for all compatible options!

Any SATA drive should do the trick! Most modern devices, including older PCs, are compatible with 2.5" SATA SSDs, which are readily available, although less common than they used to be.
