What UPS should I choose for my gaming PC?

I'm looking to buy a UPS for my gaming PC setup. I've noticed people often recommend the APC UPS, but I'm based in Italy and it's priced around 500 euros, which is way too steep for me. I've come across some pure sine wave UPS options on Amazon, rated at 1500VA for about 100-200 euros. Is that a good choice? How can I ensure I'm making the right decision, especially with my current setup of an 850W PSU and a 9070XT?

Definitely calculate your total system power draw first! Use a calculator like PCPartPicker, and add a bit of overhead—about 20%—to ensure you have enough capacity. And if you have a high-end PSU, look for a pure sine wave UPS to avoid issues during power transitions.

Good point! But just a heads up, the wattage on these UPS models is often only about 80% of the VA rating, so make sure you're factoring that in!

Right! And if you’re pulling a lot of power, a cheap UPS might just kick into overcurrent protection and get noisy.

If you have a generator or face frequent blackouts, a UPS is definitely a good idea. Just make sure it can handle your setup without triggering alarm bells! My 1500VA UPS keeps my rig running smoothly during outages because I’ve calculated the power draw correctly.

Honestly, a lot of folks overreact about needing a UPS. I've been gaming for over 30 years and power outages have never damaged my components. If you're just gaming and not working on something crucial, a good surge protector might be all you really need!

You might want to consider an AVR (Automatic Voltage Regulator) instead of a full UPS. They help stabilize power without needing backup during outages, and they're generally cheaper and more reliable over time.

You'll want a UPS with a capacity of at least 1500VA (which is around 900W). Since your 9070XT has a board power of about 304W, that should fit your needs well. Just remember to check your system's total power draw to be safe!
