I'm really exhausted right now. Last night, I used my Kubuntu setup and turned it off like usual. But when I tried to boot it up today, it got stuck on the loading screen. I spent the whole day—5 hours—trying to fix it with no luck. ChatGPT suggested it might be an issue with my NVIDIA drivers; I have a GTX 1650 Mobile and was using driver version 570. I managed to log in to a text-only mode, but despite my efforts to troubleshoot, I ultimately had to wipe everything and reinstall Kubuntu. I'm just drained from all this! Can anyone share tips on how to prevent this from happening again? I spent so much time customizing my setup, and I really don't want to go through this again.

You’re really only as good as your last backup. It's crucial to secure yourself, especially when you're making a lot of changes. I make smaller backups in between larger ones. Just remember, you might not always be aware of why something failed, so having that backup can save you.
The best thing you can do is make daily backups. You never know when something might go wrong, and having a backup can save you a lot of time and frustration. I usually clone my drive before making any major changes. That way, if anything messes up, I can just restore it back to a previous state. It might sound a bit extreme, but trust me, it's better to be safe than sorry!
Can we really back up daily? I feel silly asking, but I’ll definitely look into it. Thanks!
Also, check out this resources page for a lot of helpful info: [Linux4Noobs Wiki](http://www.reddit.com/r/linux4noobs/wiki/faq). And remember, take regular backups, try experimenting in a VM before messing up your main setup, and make sure you understand what each command does before you hit Enter! 🙂
Be careful with user errors too! Only run commands that you fully understand. It’s easy to make a mistake when you’re tinkering without knowing the implications of your actions.
Absolutely understood!
I plan to back up way more often now. I was trying to experiment with Wine yesterday and things got messy after installations, plus I just shut it down after, so that might have caused issues.
