What’s a Good Case for Airflow with Limited Clearance?

Hey everyone! I've been trying to build a PC, but I've run into a bit of trouble. I bought the Gamemax Nova N6 case, but it turns out my Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 SE ARGB cooler and Asus ROG STRIX X670E-A motherboard are too big to fit inside it. I'm looking for recommendations for a case that has good airflow and can accommodate these components since I'm limited to a maximum internal clearance of 8.5 inches. Aesthetics aren't a priority for me, so I just need something functional. Any suggestions?

I can’t give a specific case suggestion, but it's worth noting that the manufacturers should really include product manuals or spec sheets with clearance info. Definitely a useful tip for when you’re looking for your next case!

Yeah, I totally missed that too—I was so focused on everything else at the time. I assumed the clearance disclaimer was just standard and didn’t check for specifics.

It seems like your cooler should actually fit with just 2mm to spare. Is the motherboard particularly tall?

Yeah, it’s a bit of both—the cooler is pretty chunky, and my buddy had to maneuver the motherboard just right to see if it would fit. When aligned, it was flush at the top and bottom, plus the cooler was too thick. I did check, and the cooler was tight to the motherboard above the CPU.

I recently built with a setup similar to yours but with an MSI 4090 and used the Fractal Meshify 2. It has great airflow and is a bit wider, which might help with your cooler fitting. Definitely worth considering!

Sounds good, I’ll look into the Fractal Meshify 2, thanks!
