I recently gave Gnome a shot with Forge and loved the experience, despite some bugs. I'm now on the hunt for a tiling window manager that supports workspaces and offers good touchpad gestures. The key for me is finding something that's easy to install and configure; I'm not too concerned about aesthetics. Any suggestions?

Most tiling window managers do support workspaces, even if they call them different things like tags. As for touchpad gestures, I think that's a bit tricky because it's usually not something window managers focus on. You might have to look outside just the WM for gestures to work smoothly in your setup.
I found i3 to be super easy to install and configure; I used it for a few weeks and really liked it. AwesomeWM is also straightforward and has more features out of the box, but you'll need to deal with Lua for configuration. Not sure about touchpad gestures though!
Sounds good! I might have to let go of some of my requirements, so trying it out could be worthwhile.
