I'm new to Linux and looking to switch from Windows since I'm finding it less reliable lately. I've heard a lot about Arch being the best from a friend, but it seems really complex for a beginner. Can anyone recommend a good distro to start with?

Your friend might be joking about Arch being the best for beginners. It's quite challenging, and I wouldn't recommend it if you’re just starting out. Also, consider your hardware before choosing a distro. Some are better suited for newer or older systems. If you have old equipment, lots of options work well; for new stuff, some may not.
If you can share what your primary use will be (like browsing, gaming, etc.) or what hardware you have, it'll help us recommend better! But for what it’s worth, Linux Mint is often praised for being user-friendly, especially for those coming from Windows.
For beginners, I highly recommend trying out Ubuntu or Linux Mint. They offer a great user experience straight out of the box. Look into different desktop environments too; pick one that you find appealing! And don’t forget to back up your data before switching. Good luck!
Mint or Ubuntu are solid choices! However, remember that within those categories there are several options. For example, Mint offers Cinnamon, MATE, or XFCE, while Ubuntu has various flavors too. Look into what each desktop environment offers to find the best fit for your needs.
I've enjoyed using Pop!_OS, especially because I have an NVIDIA GPU. It's been smooth sailing for me, and I find it pretty easy to pick up. You might want to give it a try!

Absolutely! Exploring the different desktop environments can really enhance your experience. I've had great success with XFCE on older hardware, too.
